The Horror Of...Halloween Night, Friday the 13th the Series - "Bedazzled" - Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th - Episode 14 - ...The Next Generation?

It seems we've reached another Friday the 13th. And it's in October! What?!

So we have to return to a forgotten tradition on this site. A return to Friday the 13th the Series. More fun with Jack, Micki, and Ryan, as they chase down cursed antiques before the bodies begin to pile up.

Last time we were facing a time traveling vampire. Now we have a seedy seaman, and his evil lamp.

"Beware my might. My cursed lantern's light."

Friday the 13th on Sunday the 13th - Episode 13 - The Baron's Bride

Back we go into the realms of cursed and curious goods. One can only escape from Friday's Curse, because the 13th always comes around again! ...Though one can sometimes hit snooze one or five times. eh.

We go into the 13th episode of the series, and for the auspicious episode, we get a bit of time travel and creative production work. Also a slightly odd title, "The Baron's Bride".

Friday the 13th on Double Friday the 13th - Episode 12 - Faith Healer

It has been a couple of Friday's the 13th since we last delved into this series. I had hoped to do it in February, but Time bested me. Then I saw that March also had it's own Friday the 13th.

"Double Friday the 13th!!! What does it mean?!"

It means we finally get back into this show of shows. (Sure it's some days late. But Double Friday the 13th means the rules are out. BWAHAHAHAHA!)

"Faith Healer"

And as an episode to come back to, this is a good one. It's a strong first season episode.

Friday the 13th on Thursday the 13th - Episode 11 - Scarecrow

With Hellowe'en passed, and cursed comics tossed out, it's time for a new month and a new 13th.

This time it's something we get to go to a proper scary place...Rural Canada! Oooo!

Well it's scary if your scared of not having cellphone reception...Is that still an issue out there? Probably not going to be as friendly as in Little Mosque On The Prairie.

So let's get into Friday the 13th the Series once again...

,,,and the "Scarecrow".

And the title says it all. The team are out this time in search of a cursed scarecrow,

"Yeah, I give the Scarecrow nightmares."
Oh, man. What is the curse. Let's cross our fingers and hope it goes around killing people.It'll be just like the Wizard of Oz...that is the right movie?

Friday the 13th on Halloween the Halloween! - Episode 5 - Hellowe'en

We've done cursed comics earlier this month but now it's time for...CURSED HALLOWEEN!

Or rather, a magic amulet...But it's really about Halloween.

So  let's get into Friday the 13th the Series, and...

"Hellowe'en"

It's Halloween time in the world of Friday the 13th, Ryan has had a brilliant idea.

Throw a party at the shop. Invite all the neighborhood locals, and show them that the shop is perfectly safe and normal.

Friday the 13th on Monday the 13th (...Right?) - Episode 10 - Tales of the Undead

And were back!

Hey! To be fair, it is the 13th again, so this should work! Granted it's months past the 13th I had in mind, but anyone that was when and who is what and you is me...The world is kind of a crazy place. So let's forget this paragraph exists?

It's time to complete Takes of the Undead. In fact, let's start over. And why not? This is such an interesting story to look at. Let's see why.

Let's get back into Friday the 13th the Series!

The episode is...

Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th - Episode 9 - Root Of All Evil

Hmm. What day is today?

Thank you, convenient movie caption.

Oh, right! GTK

So that mean it's time to move on from boxing to gardening...Wait, that sounds iffy.

But it's Friday the 13th the Series, come on!

And this time we are facing

"The Root Of All Evil"

We've had creepy dolls and murderous scalpels. I am sure this month's cursed item will be great...

...a mulching machine...Really? You're killing me here, TV show from the 80's.

Friday the 13th on Almost Tuesday the 13th - Episode 8 - Shadow Boxer

The 13th has come again, who could have seen that coming...

Okay, I didn't. I've been distracted the last week. I was haunted by the idea that there was something I wanted to get done, but nothing clicked. But something needed to dealt with, and I had no bills due. And then it finally hit me Tuesday. ...Which is apt with the story of this episode.

So it's time to move on from bad doctoring to bad pugilism in this episode.

Let's take a look once again at Friday the 13th the Series.

Time to get into the ring with "Shadow Boxer".

Friday the 13th on Thursday the 13th - Episode 6 - The Great Montarro *UPDATED*

Damn! So close. It's another Thursday the 13th. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a bit more 80's horror cheese....that just sounds filthy.

So let's delve back into Friday the 13th the Series!

As I mentioned last time, I'm skipping passed the fifth episode of the first season. (It's one of the Halloween episodes, and I'm saving it for later.) So let's go to episode 6.

The Great Montarro.

Friday the 13th on Thursday the 13th - Episode 3 - Cupid's Quiver *UPDATED*

Wait, when is Friday the 13th this month? Well, let's check with the always brilliant smart phone.

...It says that Friday, February 13, 2014 is a value outside the range...

I'll take this as a no.

Well, when is the next Friday the 13th then, phone?! ...

...Thursday, February 13, 2014...

Good enough!

So it's time to look again at that 80's TV wonder....Friday the 13th: The Series.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...Oh, wait...I think I am about to get hit by a mild "flu"...
And now I'm way behind schedule. Balance is restored!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This time we go back to the third episode of the first season, and a bit of something for the romantic in you...if you are looking to be a sex offender.

"Cupid's Quiver"

Friday the 13th on Almost Monday the 13th - Episode 4 - A Cup of Time

Well, it's not Friday the 13th, but it is around the 13th of the month...That sounds good enough, right?

So let's delve back into to that series that is oh so late 80's, Friday the 13th: The Series.

Now up to this point we've covered the 1st two episodes of the series. And I would move on to the 3rd now. But, that one seems such a better fit for next month that I want to jump to the 4th episode of the series for now. Next month we'll face the Cupid Statue. This month...

"A Cup of Time".

Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th - Episode 2 - The Poison Pen

We come to Friday the 13th again.

As such, let's return to Friday the 13th: The Series.

We've already looked at the pilot. So we've been introduced to Jack, Mickie, and Ryan. They've been stuck with an antique shop that's responsible for spreading numerous cursed items, which are meant to corrupt people and lead to the gruesome deaths of others.

So now they have to act to get all the items back to the store, and locked away.

Each episode you'll have to see what dark item they will have to face the power of. This time it's all in the name.

This episode is called:

"The Poison Pen"

Another Friday the 13th...they come around like bad movie sequels.

So Friday the 13th has come again. It seems like it comes more than once a year. Presumably because it generally does.

Being as it's Friday the 13th, does that mean I want to talk about the history of our interest in this day and the number 13?...

That sounds like a great idea, but no.

Instead I want to talk about Friday the 13th...THE SERIES!

Now as a regular reader of this blog (Don't worry, I know you're not.) I know you are thinking, didn't I cover this show before, on another Friday the 13th? (Don't worry, I'm not going to try and check either.)

Maybe. And maybe when I did someone pointed out to me I made a critical error in something (like the name of a character...cutting straight to my heart...). So, maybe, I want to start over...

And also I thought it'd be fun to look at the first episode of the series.

Now, I'm not going into the history of the show, or it's making. I'll leave that to another time when I want to discuss the show overall.

For now, let's go back to 1987. ...Oh god, how many of you weren't even alive then!!! Damn you, and your youth! Still, let's go back, and you youngster can pretend you have a flattop, a Walkman, and think Michael Jackson seems really normal.

First, yes, it's called Friday the 13th. No, it doesn't star Jason Voorhees. No, it doesn't happen in or around Crystal Lake. No, it doesn't occur on have a motif of the date, Friday the 13th. And, no, it isn't centered around friggatriskaidekaphobia (Enjoy looking that up.). But it does have ties, of sorts, to the movie series, which we'll cover another time.

But don't worry about getting the point the show. The first episode lays out what you can look forward to nice enough.

I suppose I should say, SPOILERS...for a TV pilot meant to explain the rules and structure of the series...If you'd rather watch the episode first, or instead, jump to the bottom of the post. And enjoy the episode.

Otherwise, proceed.

So the first episode is "The Inheritance", and why that is you'll see soon enough.

Watching Friday the 13th the right way...By watching the TV series! *UPDATED*

Ah. Friday the 13th is here again. Has it already been a year?

Well, I would have liked to enjoyed the day more...did not happen.

But, I do have Friday the 13th: The Series (Hey, it isn't the Nightmare on Elm Street show.), and that is the finest way to honor a silly numeric day based superstition that is more and more being forgotten by society.

But this show is fun. It is one of the many late 80's/early 90's shows that were all over syndicated TV (Remember syndicated TV? Independent TV stations? ...Oh, god. I may just be so old...) At the time there was a fun spate of shows. B5. Highlander. Time Trax. War of the Worlds. The Untouchables. Star Trek: The Next Generation. And more. Never knew what you would find late at night on TV. Good times.

And Friday the 13th was one of the various attempts to create shows based on movies. Instead of a summer camp with a psycho killer, we get a curio shop, 2 young people and a wise old guy, and a mission to hunt down cursed items that all seem to be out to corrupt people and get massive numbers of people slaughtered. From creepy dolls to magic coins to deadly boxing gloves to vampiric cross, the show had fun playing with a variety of threats and adventures.

So tonight, I think I'll give the pilot a watch, The Inheritance. In it the two young cousins, Mickey and Jack find that they've inherited an old shop from their dead uncle. But they find it is not so much a chance for a quick buck, but, instead, they've inherited a curse, which consumed their corrupt uncle.

Luckily some of the show is on YouTube.

Here's Inheritance, if you're interested.

Here's the series normal intro.
