After some tricks on the field, some so so refereeing, and some amazing footwork, Euro 2008 is at an end. Vienna has given us some great soccer today. It came down to Germany and Spain, personally I wouldn't have minded Croatia and/or Turkey in this final, but it has been a very good year for Spain. And Spain has shown a whole lot of skill and determination.
I just heard the sad news that a great wit and brilliant mind, George Carlin has passed. I would say I regret he won't be around to give us more humor, but the sheer quantity of brilliance he leaves us is almost more than we all deserve.
It is sad to hear, and so young still (58). I definitely did not always agree with how he did his job, but when he was on the ball (to my thinking) he was electric. If there are things to take away from his life it is to be passionate about those thing you love, be there for your family, and be there for your friends and colleagues.
Update: John Amato. Wow, what shocking news. My heart goes out to his friends and family. When moments like these arrive, it’s a reminder to us all just how precious and fleeting our lives really are..
BadPsychics is pointing to a interesting show on deep in the heart of Texas.
The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. Every week they field live calls from atheists and believers alike, and you never know what you're going to get! Sometimes it can get quite feisty indeed! You don't want to miss it.
BadPsychics.com would like to give its support to The Atheist Experience TV show, and as such are publishing this clip as proof that sometimes even the most religious people can seemingly speak sense, even if in doing so they debunk their own argument.
The Atheist Experience airs Sundays, 3:00-4:30 pm in the Austin area on Time Warner Cable. Channel 10 is one of a couple of Public Access Community Television channels.
The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin. The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
Here is there favorite caller ever.
Apparently, atheist are people of faith as well...and when this isn't accepted and countered, the callers true opinions and attitude come out (Check out the last 10 seconds.).
Nice to see this outreach, not that everyone wants to talk, see above.
Some people ask me, "Jack? What's this whole thing about?" And I tell them the truth. The hell if I know.
But sometimes you are on a sugar high. And you take some nerdiness. And you take some geekiness. And you grab some politics. And then you stuff some skepticism into it...and you crash.
When you make up you don't know what it is, but it's attached itself to your jugular, and you decide it's best not to fuss.
A curmudgeon and soft-heart. A pessimist and optimist. A loner and joiner. Even I get sick of me.
I'm...
A Neophyte Negotiator of all the Nonsense. An Ornate Opponent of…Oh, you know. A Lover of Levity and the Lectern. An Irreconcilably Irate Idyllist. The Eternal Enemy of Erratum. Just a Solitary Serrated Soul. I'm sorry, what was the question?
