Sometimes it is alright to be positive.

As a societal rule, people choose to be solemn and praising in the wake of death. I have no trouble letting things go, death is death.

But I have to agree with Bill Mahr on this, "death isn't always sad." We are talking of Falwell now. He wasn't a bigoted uncle, who swore at dinner a lot. He wasn't an arrogant preacher at the local church. He was FALWELL, a voice heard across the globe. And, boy, what did he do with that voice? Hmm?

Jerry Falwell is gone now. I don't like seeing anyone pass on, but Falwell is no loss. He was cruel. He took is fanatical beliefs and tried to force them on a nation. He took horrific death tolls around him and used them to blame America, to blame society for not bowing to his views. He was a hateful man, and he blamed his own God for his beliefs. He spewed and spread his hate and lies with a pious smile. He took such glee a kicking those that were down.

How can I be in anyway sad to know that after the next disaster, one less voice won't be gloating about it? He did his damage to America, and to public discourse.

It is just a question now of how long passed his life the wreckage he wrought will last.

And for some odd reason they drug Christopher Hitchens out at this time. From his appearance on Sean Hannity's show to Paula Zahn's, the same question was asked. Why are you so mean to him, he's dead!!!

And he had the same response. Why did you invite me on? I told you what I would say.

That is something I respect in Hitchens. He states and stands by his opinions, popular or unpopular. If these shows really wanted to know why people like him hate Falwell and don't mourn the death, Hitchens would be happy and quite able to give a list. But that is not what the media wants. Though it was fun to watch the media at first. It was hard for them. Their are societies rules...but the guy was such a dick. They could NOT completely veer away from his nasty comments. But they tried hard to do this.

And it was interesting to see that none of the Republican candidates for president showed for the funeral. Guess they saw no gains for themselves by showing up.
