McCain finally had his talk at the Discovery Institute. He stayed away from evolution and intelligent design, I guess his polls on which side to take haven't gotten back yet.
What did he say?
...said he hopes Americans will be patient and give the new Iraq strategy, led by Gen. David Petraeus, an opportunity to succeed. He said it should be clear within "some months" whether the plan is working.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow. Then we'll see. Almost sounds sensible, until you realize that they have been hitting that snooze alarm response for YEARS now. Always a new plan, always a few more months. And they keep failing, and keep going. And this is because America keeps giving them Do Overs.
This is much like ID. Teach the controversy. Sounds sensible, balanced. The trouble is that behind the words is the question of what is our controversy? Is it about the science? No. Is it about the methods? No. Is it about faith, and a wish to see higher powers at work. Yup. No sciencein ID, just PR.
It'll be clear in some months. Teach the controversy. Go behind the question. You'll see something disconcerting. You'll see something sad.
You'll see the emperor is buck naked.
