NEW Horror Host fun

It;s the time of year when we all should be giving horror movies some love. It's also a good time to appreciate the good work of any local horror hosts. (Really they are to enjoy all year long.) Of course these days it is easier to find and watch horror host shows. On some channels on my cable I have a couple of horror host shows like Svengoolie. And that doesn't even mention shows that are done, or made available online. Check them out!

Some favorites of mine who are working on new material are mentioned below:

Midnite Mausoleum

It seemed like our undead host, Marlena Midnite, had finally been laid to rest last year. But they got a deal with a local channel in Eastern Iowa this year and for the last month have been putting on new episodes. If you live in the area I hope you check them out on the weekends.

And, if you like, you can try and get there show on where you are.

Penny Dreadful's Shilling Shockers

Shilling Shockers is another good show. It has slowed down production over the past few years. I mentioned at the end of last year that they were fundraising to do another season. It was successful and they went into production at the start of the year.

Sadly, one of the key members of the team proved to be extremely ill, and died earlier this year. Magoo Gelehrter who played the wonderfully childish werewolf Garou is no longer with us. But those who make the show, including his wife who plays Penny Dreadful, have decided to finish Season 9 as a final season of the series. It should be available come 2015. The season will be in his honor. They filmed as much as they could with him, including the series finale.

He received a special award at the Rondo Classic Horror Awards.

I can't wait to enjoy the new season and remember all of the fun Garou has given me and other fans over the years. He was the heart of the show. Magoo Gelehrter will be missed.

As well, they've also decided to finally release the first season on DVD. This is a big deal to the fan base as everyone on the show has been eager to not release the episodes, or show them. It's there early work, so it's rougher than later more polished years. But as a big old fan, how can I not want to own that season along with the rest I have? A chance to see how this set of actors started this effort. I want to be sure I can enjoy this show for years to come.

Season 1 release

If you haven't seen them before, check them out. (TV. Online.)

Some more Shilling Shockers...
