Remember the Treehouse of Horror 16 title sequence?

We're now passed the 15 year mark...15 years of Treehouse of Horror? ...That's a whole lot of horror!

Still, it continues on, with a 16th. So, the 2005 Treehouse of Horror...

image

Okay. We get some baseball. This is some years into the state of things at FOX where The Simpsons' Halloween show was shown about a week after Halloween.

So they open the show on a long shot of a very slow and very boring...and average baseball game (and World Series).

image

image

And it is dull and tedious, so finally Kang and Kodos cut in, disgusted that it's taking so long to get passed this game and to the Treehouse of Horror.

image

They also quip about the state of the game, what with all the steroids.

image

And they are doubting that the Simpsons will be back on before Administrative Assistant Appreciation Day.

image

So they decide to act, speeding up the game and Earth.

image

image

And the game starts moving.

image

But the game is still going SO SLOWLY. So they rev up their ray even more. Though there is a warning that this could rend the fabric of reality.

image

image

And the game begins moving so fast now that a vortex is created. (NOTE: A fast moving game of baseball will break Time and Space.)

image

And the vortex grows, sucking in the stadium and it's surroundings.

image

And then the city.

image

And the surface of the Earth.

image

And the rest of it.

image

And then the cosmos.

image

And God.

image

And that's it for reality.

image

The aliens are chuffed, but decide to leave a note behind in the now empty universe.

image

And we have our title.

This is a nice opening. It plays on something that was annoying many fans, the fact the Halloween shows had been preempted for the World Series for years. And it has Kang and Kodos pulling a boner that I can see them naturally pulling (they are always such goofs). And aliens destroying the Earth? That's horror. But, it's not as good as the 12th special, which gave a better, more macabre, vignette.

For the rest of the show, the tales told were:

and

image

and

image

...which gave us imagery like...

image

and

Some fun episodes, which I have to admit I haven't seen in a while.

Now on to YEAR XVII!
